THE GIFT

TPATH REMARKS January 2, 2019

In an article printed in the NYT last month the author suggested that planet Earth would be better off if mankind did not exist on it. Nutcases such as this guy and many, many other environmentalists believe the earth is a majestic entity infested with human vermin. These people, a large number of them, do not believe in a Creator. They actually believe that the entire universe, including Earth, came into existence from nothing and that the human life on it, is simply an unpleasant byproduct.

If such absurd thinking has merit, let’s examine some of the random occurrences that were required for the Earth to evolve to a point where it could become the home of the extrinsic human race.

Sometime during the first few hundred million years after the earth indurated from the remnants of the big bang, Earth was struck by massive body of coalescing debris. That impact tilted the spin axis to 23 degrees. This tilting stabilized the Earth’s environment and created seasons.  As a result, thereafter humans who had successfully completed creating themselves out of nothingness, just as the Earth had done, began relying on these seasons for the production of food via agriculture.

Astronomers think that that same collision also gave us the close orbiting moon. A massive moon relative to the Earth and many of the other planets which have been studied in our solar system and beyond. The moon helps the planet live. Its gravitational forces create tides and move weather systems. Without it the planet’s ecosystems and waterways would stagnate.  Just a coincidence, some would say.

Many planets being discovered in our galaxy are in elliptical orbits around their sun. Even in our solar system most planets orbit elliptically. But not our Earth. It travels around the sun in what is called a circular orbit. Why is this rare type of orbit important? Well it provided for a consistent temperature that allowed humans, animals and vegetation to flourish.

There is yet another random occurrence relating to our earth’s development. Liquid water is an undisputed requirement for life. For there to be water the planet had to, for no other reason except that it did, settle into an orbit not too close and not too far. They call it the Goldilocks zone. Probably just another randomly occurring fortuity?

There seems to be other even more crazy happenstances that aided humans from their earliest history up to the present and will for centuries yet to come. Our stochastic planet continued to provide the resources that were needed to survive relative to the intellectual and technological advancement of each epoch.

Some examples:

1. Animals were in abundance and early humans were able to capture or kill them for food, clothing and even shelter.

2. Most organic material grown from the ground has a very short time before it begins to decay. But for some wild reason trees are the exception.  The wood provided the early unwanted interlopers with materials to build shelters and bridges that would last for many decades.

3. As man advanced and needed to travel more quickly than his feet alone could carry him, the earth proved him with beasts of burden. Horses, mules, oxen. In the case of horses they just happened to be large enough to easily carry a man, just intelligent enough to allow them to be trained.

4. As humans advanced they found the earth had iron, copper, aluminum and many other metals, that for no understandable reason, just happened to exist here.

5. Next comes the evil nemesis. Petroleum. Man needed to have energy to advance, to produce and to exist. To this day there remains massive amounts of this resource. It will last for yet another 200 years, if man still needs it. Another example of mother earth providing what the supposed unwanted beings needed.

6. The byproducts of petroleum have given man plastics and medicines and lubricants. Petroleum is a gift within a gift.

In the decades and even centuries to come, there can be no doubt that our planet will provide anything and everything mankind needs. This from a planet that merely and at random formed in the universe. Quite astounding.

Many may read this and still believe that all these gifts provided are simply coincidental and sans design. Their lives exist without benefit of common sense. The opaqueness of leftist ideology precludes them of the ability to see reality.

So if you absorbed the many ergodic events that were required for the human species to advance, thrive and move forward into each next arriving future, it is hard to conceive of anything other than that this planet was created specifically for man. We are not despoilers of a pristine world with no right to be here. The Earth exists because we exist.

This planet did not create itself and then unfortunately become infested by man. This planet and all its contents are gifts from our God and like any tool or home it needs to be taken care of.  But all of its boundless beauty and abundant resources were created with purpose.
